A conference entitled "Conformal Geometry and Low Dimensional Manifolds" will be held in honour of Professor Antonio F. Costa on the occasion of his 60th birthday in Ávila (Spain) from 13th to 17th July 2020.
The conference will be devoted to the mathematics Antonio F. Costa has worked on, with special focus on Riemann and Klein surfaces, automorphisms and group actions on surfaces and low dimensional manifolds, Grothendieck theory of dessins d’enfants, topological properties of moduli spaces of complex curves and knot theory.
The conference will have a computational/combinatorial flavour.
Among others, the following topics will be covered:
- Abelian and Jacobian Varieties
- Automorphisms of Riemann and Klein Surfaces.
- Dessins d'Enfants, Graphs and Maps.
- Geometry and Topology of 3- and 4-manifolds
- Knot Theory
- Low Dimensional Orbifolds and Their Coverings
- Moduli Fields and Fields of Definition
- Teichmüller Theory and Moduli Spaces
The conference is thought as a meeting point between the different areas involved in low dimensional topology and geometry, following Professor Costa’s view of mathematics. Anyone with interest in combinatorial methods in low dimension is welcome to the meeting.
The programme will consist of lectures (both 40 and 20 minutes long). The conference will start on Monday the 13th in the morning and will finish on Friday the 17th at noon.
The venue of the conference will be the Associated Center of UNED in Ávila.
