‘A trip to other geometries‘ is the main outreach activity of GENTLE.
‘A trip to other geometries’ is a lecture+experience in which we time-travel from Euclid’s Elements (300 B.C.) to the present, stopping at a few landmarks from where we will peek at geometries you may have never seen. On the way, we will answer when apples fall, why the Pythagorean theorem is true, how many important mathematicians failed to do their homework, what an 18-year-old Hungarian would-be soldier has to do with the history of geometry and where it is best to escape from straight lines. Are you ready for the journey?
