Publicacions Matemàtiques publishes original research papers and expository surveys in any area of Mathematics which represent a substantial contribution. Only articles with excellent reports will be accepted.
Format and Language. Authors are encouraged to prepare their papers with LaTeX and submit the PDF output by e-mail to: pubmat@uab.cat. The paper should also include the 2020 Mathematics Subject Classification which best represents the subject of the paper and a short list of keywords. The use of footnotes should be avoided.
We encourage submission of papers written in English (American or British English are accepted, but not a mixture of those). In any case, the paper should include a short informative abstract in English.
After acceptance of the article, authors will be required to provide the TeX files and, if applicable, all files for figures (preferably in EPS format).
Authors will receive page-proofs of the paper. A copy of the volume and a PDF file of the final version of the paper will be supplied free of charge.
Peer Review. Publicacions Matemàtiques follows a blind peer review process. Each submission is assessed by the Editorial Board and, if suitable, is sent to at least one external reviewer (typically two) for independent scientific evaluation. If the evaluations are inconsistent, or if for any other reason it is deemed necessary, the Editorial Board may send the article to a third evaluator. The time allocated to evaluate each manuscript depends on its length and the availability of the reviewers. The journal strives to keep the period elapsed between submission and decision to a minimum. In 2024, the average time between the reception of a paper and its publication was twenty three months, and the average time between the acceptance of a paper and its publication was fourteen months.
The decision of acceptance or rejection is taken by the Managing Editor taking into account the opinions of the reviewers. This may be:
- Publishable as it is (or with minor adjustments).
- Publishable after revision.
- Not accepted in the present form: there is the possibility of rewriting the paper in part or as a whole.
- Not publishable.
Authors should be aware that the time allocated for changes after receiving the reviewers' reports is of three months. After six months without any communication from the authors, the submission will be consider as withdrawn.
Periodicity. Two issues, constituting a single volume, are published each year. The first issue is published in January and the second in July.
Open Access. Publicacions Matemàtiques provides immediate open access to its content in PDF. This includes all issues from 1976.
It is understood that the authors will agree to sign a formal Consent to Publish in due course. All articles will be published with an appropriate Creative Commons License. The authors retain copyright.
Authors are not required to pay any article-processing charges (APCs).
